He is a stalwart doyen and cynosure in that field. 

If anybody niggles with such a sensitive topic as Westoxification, I feel ired. 

Their tokenistic raison d'être is a bete noire.

Enervation

James Thomson in "The Castle of Indolence" portrays a setting where the dwellers confront moral enervation due to their indulgence in luxury.   The woman is of tawny complexion.  Looking at Alec's murdered body, the landlady had goose flesh.  We bristle at the prospect of another interview.  She was wearing a beige skirt.
