A Fortiori

The proposition is incomprehensible to us and a fortiori we cannot be justified in believing it. 
The carpenter did a sloppy job of building the staircase. 
He had a splenetic outburst against his boss. 
Christopher Columbus's stumbling upon the Caribbean while searching for a new route to India was adventitious. 
The fulcrum of the problem rests on that issue.
