Swanky

We stayed in a swanky hotel. 
When things look black, there is always a silver lining. 
"My stomach hurts" is a perception, but "I might throw up" is an apperception. 
The narrative view of selfhood has a further purpose to connect ipseity with alterity. 
A visitor described their appearance as cadaverous and said that they all looked in poor health.

With the concierge's aid, the man had been murdered.  The corrupt politicians are engaged in senseless recrimination.  They try to use her innocence as a leverage to gain sexual favour.

Enervation

James Thomson in "The Castle of Indolence" portrays a setting where the dwellers confront moral enervation due to their indulgence in luxury.   The woman is of tawny complexion.  Looking at Alec's murdered body, the landlady had goose flesh.  We bristle at the prospect of another interview.  She was wearing a beige skirt.
