Thrum

A thrum is continuously drumming in his head.

She works in the shop as a locum.

Many soldiers used to use common yarrow to stanch the flow of blood.

I am never tired of the yap of that puppy day in and out.

In the dirty effluent so many liquid and solid wastes are flowing by.

James Thomson in "The Castle of Indolence" portrays a setting where the dwellers confront moral enervation due to their indulgence in luxury.   The woman is of tawny complexion.  Looking at Alec's murdered body, the landlady had goose flesh.  We bristle at the prospect of another interview.  She was wearing a beige skirt.
