Thyme

If you add a pinch of thyme to the soup, it will be excellent. 
He is a convicted felon in the penitentiary.
The tree is dessicated for the lack of water as well as care.  
He wobbles too much before taking a decision.
He has a problem in speech and so he tends to sputter.

With the concierge's aid, the man had been murdered.  The corrupt politicians are engaged in senseless recrimination.  They try to use her innocence as a leverage to gain sexual favour.

Enervation

James Thomson in "The Castle of Indolence" portrays a setting where the dwellers confront moral enervation due to their indulgence in luxury.   The woman is of tawny complexion.  Looking at Alec's murdered body, the landlady had goose flesh.  We bristle at the prospect of another interview.  She was wearing a beige skirt.
