Thomas de Quincey orchestrated a tracery of delicate dictions. 
He wrote some essays of sterling quality. 
The catholicity of his writing embraced most of the writers.
Hazlitt's essays are vitiated by his enthusiasm. 
Most of the works by De Quincey are tawdry.

With the concierge's aid, the man had been murdered.  The corrupt politicians are engaged in senseless recrimination.  They try to use her innocence as a leverage to gain sexual favour.

Enervation

James Thomson in "The Castle of Indolence" portrays a setting where the dwellers confront moral enervation due to their indulgence in luxury.   The woman is of tawny complexion.  Looking at Alec's murdered body, the landlady had goose flesh.  We bristle at the prospect of another interview.  She was wearing a beige skirt.
