Evanescence

The story is a meditation on the evanescence of all things. 
The coronation merely confirms and sacralizes his inheritance. 
I'm not sure whether this was courage or pigheadedness. 
His use of inkhorn terminology in his essay did not impress his professor. 
Egged on by his top aides, he was determined to win.

With the concierge's aid, the man had been murdered.  The corrupt politicians are engaged in senseless recrimination.  They try to use her innocence as a leverage to gain sexual favour.

Enervation

James Thomson in "The Castle of Indolence" portrays a setting where the dwellers confront moral enervation due to their indulgence in luxury.   The woman is of tawny complexion.  Looking at Alec's murdered body, the landlady had goose flesh.  We bristle at the prospect of another interview.  She was wearing a beige skirt.
