Lothario

Most of the characters in the Restoration comedies are like a lothario. 
The suavity of her appearance misled him to marry her. 
The wife started caterwauling at the prospect of her husband's imminent death. 
The man was behaving with his customers in a chuff manner. 
Some memories in our lives are indelible.

With the concierge's aid, the man had been murdered.  The corrupt politicians are engaged in senseless recrimination.  They try to use her innocence as a leverage to gain sexual favour.

Enervation

James Thomson in "The Castle of Indolence" portrays a setting where the dwellers confront moral enervation due to their indulgence in luxury.   The woman is of tawny complexion.  Looking at Alec's murdered body, the landlady had goose flesh.  We bristle at the prospect of another interview.  She was wearing a beige skirt.
